Packers' Favre Retires After Record Setting NFL Career!
For nearly 16 full seasons, only one man has started at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and his name is Brett Favre. Today, Favre announced his retirement from football, drawing to a close a spectacular and storied 17-year career, during which he led the Packers to two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl XXXI and restoring the proud franchise to glory. Along the way he eclipsed every major NFL record for his position, including most wins (160), most starts (253 regular season/275 including playoffs), most touchdown passes (442), most attempts (8,758), most completions (5,377), and most yards gained passing (61,655). He also holds league records for most 3,000-yard passing seasons (16) and most consecutive post-season games with a TD pass (18). He was also named the NFL's Most Valuable Player a record three times. Yet all the records can't sum up the greatness of nine-time Pro Bowler Brett Favre, who brought to the game an unbridled passion and a gambling, gunslinging style that set him apart as one of the game's all-time most beloved personalities.
