Amar'e Stoudemire was selected out of high school in the 2002 NBA Draft. During his rookie season (2002-03) Amare topped all rookies in rebounds (8.8), free throws made (320) and attempts (484). He was 2nd in points (13.5) and blocked shots (1.06). On December 30, 2002 Stoudemire exploded for a career-high 38 points, in only his 31st game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. A new record, the most points scored in NBA history by a player making the jump from high school to the NBA. He currently is averaging 26.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
