George Brett was the heart and soul of the Kansas City Royals during his illustrious career. His gritty, determined style of play made him a fan favorite and a national icon. Bret Saberhagen was one of the most dominant pitchers in the league for the Kansas City Royals in the 1980s. Saberhagan won 2 Cy Young awards and won 14 or more games 6 times. In 1985, Saberhagan went 20-6 with a 2.87 ERA, but he saved his best for last going 2-0 with a miniscule 0.50 ERA in the 1985 World Series while leading the Royals to their only World Series championship in franchise history.
