Certified Authentic Joe Theismann had a decision to make. Back in 1971, after coming in second in that year's Heisman Trophy vote, the Notre Dame quarterback was drafted by the Minnesota Twins, who took him as a shortstop, and the Miami Dolphins, who selected him with the 99th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Theismann turned down both options and instead played quarterback for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Then, in 1974, Theismann inked a deal with the Washington Redskins, serving as a punt returner until 1978, when he finally got the opportunity to step into the pocket as the team's quarterback. Theismann eventually threw for 25,206 yards, led the Redskins to victory in Super Bowl XVII and was the NFL MVP in 1983. Theismann was forced to retire in 1986 following a violent collision with Lawrence Taylor of the New York Giants, and today Theismann is still in the game as a television color commentator. Once the hand-signed collectible has passed the steps listed above, a Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is created for the collectible. The collectible is then sealed and stored within our main office and is not handled until it is delivered to a sports collectible enthusiast. COA FEATURES Steiner Sports provides a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that is the size of a credit card and made of durable plastic. It carries text that reads, "This certificate is your assurance that the enclosed item of sports memorabilia has been personally signed by the state sports celebrity/celebrities. The authenticity of the signature(s) is unconditionally guaranteed by Steiner Sports Memorabilia, Inc." It also bears the Steiner logo, a facsimile signature of Steiner Sports President Brandon Steiner, and on the reverse includes a hologram specific to the product as well as a description of the item and a corresponding bar code.
