Dubbed "The House that Ruth Built", Yankee Stadium, opened for business in 1923. After sharing the Polo Grounds with the Giants, the New York Yankees were evicted by Giants Manager, John McGraw, for many reasons, but none more so than the popularity of its team and its star player, Babe Ruth. The Yankees were out drawing their landlords, and the Giants had had enough. The New York Yankees built their own stadium in the South Bronx, right across the Harlem River from the Polo Grounds, in part so their former landlords could see their majestic new baseball palace every day they reported to work. Yankee Stadium has become a shrine for baseball fans, and has seen some of the greatest players and teams ever. Based on an original painting by Al Sorenson. The canvas measures approximately 13"x11".
