He was the calm, steady lynchpin of a powerhouse offense that included the explosive running of Emmitt Smith and the clutch pass catching of Michael Irvin. Together, they were known to Cowboys fans as “The Triplets.” Troy Aikman, who was drafted as the NFL’s number one overall pick out of UCLA, played 12 years in the NFL and was named to the Pro Bowl six times.
